Hello.
My name is Tajiri from COSMO TEXTILE Sales Department 3, and I became a fabric seller out of a love for clothes.
In this blog, I would like to introduce our recommended textiles.
I am normally in charge of textile sales for men’s brands and designer brands that have stores in department stores, and I propose textiles while exchanging trend information and listening to more sensory, aesthetic requests.
Based on that experience, this time I would like to introduce textiles not from a product-development perspective such as specs or production background, but from the perspectives of fashionability and trends.
For the past four seasons or so, the textile that men’s apparel customers have almost always picked from the sample card, and that COSMO TEXTILE would like to recommend, is “cotton/nylon (hereafter C/Ny) yarn-dyed textile”.
This refers, for example, to textile woven with cotton in the warp and nylon in the weft.
The well-known 60/40 (rokuyon) cloth beloved by vintage clothing and outdoor wear fans is one type of this as well.
I think the appeal of C/Ny yarn-dyed textile lies in its rugged firmness and resilience, as well as its matte luster.
100% cotton feels too warm and cozy, and still has that ordinary chino-pants feel... 100% nylon has too much shine; it’s good for an MA-1, but too distinctive for making pants...
With yarn-dyed textile, those concerns associated with each of the two materials can be nicely balanced,
allowing us to finish it as just the right kind of textile that is easy to use.
Below, we will introduce four C/Ny yarn-dyed textile product numbers that our company offers.
| Product number | Manufacturer | Product name | Description | Structure | Industry weight(g/m2) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| BD1544 | COSMO TEXTILE | C/Ny High-Count Light Twill Wash Finish | Using cotton for the warp and nylon for the weft, woven at high density and finished with a wash finish, this material expresses a distinctive firmness and resilience, along with a matte luster. | Twill | 180 |
| BD76761 | COSMO TEXTILE | C/Ny High-Count High-Density Poplin Water-Repellent Finish | By weaving cotton and nylon together at high density, we have created an original material that combines distinctive firmness, suppleness, and the unique slippery feel of nylon. | High-density poplin | 190 |
| BD3670 | COSMO TEXTILE | C/Ny Military Moleskin Water-Repellent Finish | By using nylon in the weft of the moleskin, we have created an original material that combines an elegant sheen with a rugged military look. | Moleskin | 250 |
| BD8820 | COSMO TEXTILE | 80/2 Cotton/Nylon Typewriter Stretch Soft Tumbler | A lightweight stretch typewriter using 80/2 cotton for the warp. This is a new material that combines multiple special finishes to create fullness and softness. | Typewriter cloth | 110 |

This product number is perfect for light outerwear in early autumn or on slightly chilly spring days, and it is a textile that could also express a nice level of character when used for pants.
It is a twill woven with 40-count cotton in the warp and 140d nylon in the weft at high density.
In addition, a wash finish in post-processing gives it a moderate wrinkled look that adds a casual feel.
It has been a long-selling item since 2015.

First, high-density poplin refers to a plain weave textile of light to medium weight woven with yarn at high density.
The name comes from the textile once used to be placed between a saddle and a horse when riding, to keep the saddle from slipping. Because it is woven at high density, even though it is light to medium in thickness, it is durable and has light wind resistance, and is often used for spring coats.
This product number uses 20-count cotton for the warp, making it slightly thicker than the above-mentioned BD1544,
and because it also has a water-repellent finish, it is often used for men’s coats and light outerwear.
One customer used C/#255 for a trench coat,
and created a cool product with an outstanding presence while still not feeling overly heavy.

This is a product we proudly call a “textile you can hardly find anywhere other than COSMO TEXTILE”.
We offer a wide range of “moleskin,” which is often used for military items. Moleskin is generally C100%, but as a special variation we used nylon in the weft.
Since moleskin has a structure in which the weft appears prominently on the surface, the nylon sheen comes through in just the right way, making this a textile that feels like a classic military look while also having a slightly twisted impression.
In fashion terms, it could be said to be a textile that deconstructs moleskin as an existing format.
(If you understand the original reference, I think we’d get along well in terms of our taste in clothes. I’d love to work together.)

So far I have introduced textiles for outerwear and pants, but this product number is also recommended for shirts.
It is a lightweight textile with a crisp, thin feel and stretchability thanks to polyurethane in the weft. It has an elegant sheen that cannot be achieved with 100% cotton, and because it is finished with a soft tumbler, it has a soft and relaxed hand feel. I think it is a textile that would feel fresh even when made into a regular casual shirt. I believe it can be used broadly by mode-style brands, relaxed-wear brands, and for ladies’ items as well.
Thank you for reading.
At COSMO TEXTILE, we plan textiles while thinking about trends and what will be needed for the next fashion wave.
Also, Apparel X is introducing sale items as soon as possible! We are selling them at bargain prices as a must-sell-out, limited-stock deal. Please take a look at those as well.
We appreciate your continued support.
