Hello, I'm Jane! How was your Obon holiday?
Recently, it has been so hot in Japan that I was shocked. People often asked me, ``You're from a tropical country, aren't you used to summer and heat?''
38 degrees! It's the hottest I've ever experienced in Japan.
Actually, I don't walk as much in Vietnam as I do in Tokyo! Especially in a city like Hanoi. Did you know that the main vehicle in Vietnam is motorbikes? Also, Japanese bikes are very common in Vietnam, with 90% of bikes being from Japanese brands!
Isn't it amazing? Once upon a time, I had a bike too!
However, Vietnam is a tropical country, so summer temperatures are usually around 40 degrees Celsius. Riding a bike is a little better than walking in the sun, but it doesn't help that much. Among Vietnamese people, just like in East Asian cultures, there is still an old idea that white skin equals beauty. So how can Vietnamese women protect their skin and prevent sunburn?
Well, there's sun protection outerwear!
Ninja-Lead is a nickname for a woman who dresses up as a samurai when she goes out. This “fashion trend” is quite popular among Vietnamese women!
Ninja = Covered from head to toe
Lead = Honda Lead Bike
Let's take a closer look at this combo.
Sun protection outerwear comes in a variety of designs, most of them with floral patterns.
So what do you think about this summer's fashion trends? Is it interesting? It may seem extreme, but the sun is extremely dangerous. Not only can it cause sunburn and heatstroke, but in the long run it can cause skin cancer. In Vietnam, functional textile were not as common as in Japan. Three or two years ago, thanks to Uniqlo, Vietnamese people knew about UV protection jackets. In the recent heat, I am very happy that textile with cooling and UV protection functions have been invented.
Until the end Thank you for reading! I would really appreciate it if you could share this post and support me!
