I visited the "Premium Yamagata Goods Fair"!

Today, I visited the "High-Quality Great Things Yamagata Fair" currently being held at Shibuya Scramble Square.

There were many tasteful items produced and manufactured in Yamagata on display!

This time, Aobun Textile and Sato Seni, among others, were exhibiting, so I went to hear about them.

I don’t often get the chance to hear from people in the production area, so it was refreshing.

Aobun Textile is a weaver that weaves and knits colorful, fun-to-look-at patterns.

It’s rare to have both weaving and knitting machines, isn’t it?

Originally they only produced textiles, but now they also design and manufacture products such as mufflers and scarves, specially knitted with cotton and wool.

At this exhibition, mufflers and scarves are on display.

Because cotton is used, they retain warmth while still having a smooth, pleasant texture.

The tag says,

"Made in YONEZAWA"

which really conveys their local pride.

Yonezawa textile is said to be distinctive, characterized by fun patterns and colors.

Sato Seni is said to handle everything in-house, from yarn spinning to developing apparel brands.

They offer a wide range, from knit products made with colorful, distinctive wool yarn to woven products made with custom textiles.

It was a brand I had seen before, so learning about how it was made really moved me.

I had only recognized Yamagata as a place famous for textiles, but I learned that they also work on bright, pop-style textiles and products.

It made me want to learn more about different production areas!
