Hello, I attended the MFU fashion marketing study group held yesterday, December 18th.
Mr. Shinada from Nikkei and Mr. Yagi from WWD served as lecturers and talked about looking back at the trends of 2019 and predicting the trends for 2020.
When it comes to trends, trend amateurs tend to think of things that are trending and thinking, "Hey, that's what's trending!"
Listening to this story, the trend is as it should be! I learned that.
It seems that trends are established for reasons that may seem unrelated, such as social conditions and ways of thinking.
With the keywords "inclusion" and "diversity", there is a growing movement around the world to accept people's differences in terms of race, gender, way of thinking, body shape, etc.
Fashion trends have also been influenced by this, with many changes being made, such as the release of men's nail polish Christmas coffrets and women's lingerie brands expanding their range of sizes. I think society is changing to a place where you can enjoy what you like without having to worry about it.
Lately, I've been hearing more and more that Japan's ideas are old and backward, but I hope that through fashion, we can not only show off the goodness of Japan, but also become a more tolerant and wonderful country!
(The story has gotten too big)
After the two lecturers' lectures, there was an MFU year-end party, where we had delicious food and drinks! !
I'm rather ignorant of trends, but now that I've learned a new and interesting way to look at trends, I think I'll be more interested in new things from now on!
My ultimate goal is to be able to be sensitive to trends and propose apparel materials that meet the needs of the world!
