Behind the Scenes of Creating the Outlet Page Icon

Hello.

Recently, I secretly added outlet products to ApparelX.

The textiles on display have eye-catching prices.

Right now, they are outlet products known only to those in the know,

but in the future, an outlet icon will be added to the category list on the top page and take users to the outlet page.

And today, I was suddenly put in charge of designing that icon...?

I’m not good at drawing, but 2020 is a year to take on challenges! So I gave it a try. ✌️?✌️?

I learned how to use Illustrator at vocational school, but I only vaguely remember it, and it was almost like using it for the first time.

I completely ignored what I had been taught in vocational school and drew the outline as if I were sketching a picture...?

When I finished drawing it, ,

I thought, “Huh? How do I color this?!”

I asked a senior who is good at drawing, “How do you color things...?” ??

They kindly taught me, but ?

I regretted not asking from the start; in the world of Illustrator, the outline is the key...

Thinking I really need to do it properly next time, I painstakingly made one fix after another even though it would definitely have been faster to start over from scratch.

Somehow I finally managed to finish it and went to show the president, and I was relieved that the response was better than I expected...!?
