Introducing ApparelX Sustainable Products! May 2025 Issue

Hello. I’m Hirama from the ApparelX Sustainable Team.

This time, I’d like to introduce FOOD TEXTILE from Oharayaseni.

What is FOOD TEXTILE?

FOOD TEXTILE is a sustainable project that extracts dyes from ingredients and vegetables that food companies planned to discard, and uses those dyes to color textiles and products.

By purchasing ingredients from food manufacturers, restaurants, farms, and more across Japan, the project develops dyes with its own unique technology.

By using them to dye yarn and textiles, ingredients that would have been discarded are reborn as part of fashion.

For dyeing, more than 90% uses natural dyes. By keeping the use of chemical dyes to an absolute minimum, the products are environmentally friendly while achieving soft, gentle colors.

These natural yet deep colors can be used in a wide range of items, including casual wear, miscellaneous goods, and lifestyle products.
