OYY0210 Linen Ramie Manganese Kasuri Garden Flower Pattern
“Manganese kasuri,” the only remaining textile of its kind in the Mitsuke area of Niigata, is a dyed kasuri made by skilled artisans using a technique passed down since the Taisho era.
This unique, richly textured textile has a pattern printed onto a base fabric woven with manganese-dyed thread and then reduced to create a delicate motif.
By drying the fabric without unnecessary tension, it achieves a soft feel against the skin and a plump washed texture.
With a 60-count thickness, it can be used for shirts, blouses, dresses, and more.
“Kasuri” refers to a traditional Japanese textile weaving technique and the fabric made with it.
It is characterized by weaving after yarn has been partially dyed in advance, creating a distinctive blurred pattern.
Manganese kasuri is a type of traditional Japanese kasuri, especially known as one of the dyeing techniques of Kurume kasuri.
Features of manganese kasuri Its biggest feature is the use of manganese (Mn) in the dye.
Manganese dye is a type of chemical dye, and it has the advantages of faster color development and higher durability than conventional indigo dyeing.
It developed as an efficient dyeing method amid postwar material shortages and rising indigo prices.
