The only remaining "manganese kasuri" in the Mitsuke area of Niigata is a dyed kasuri made by skilled artisans using a technique handed down since the Taisho era.
This is a unique, full-of-character textile in which a pattern is printed onto a base cloth woven with yarn dyed using the manganese method, then reduced to reveal a delicate design.
By drying the fabric without applying unnecessary tension, it has a soft hand against the skin and a plump Wash Finish texture.
With a 60-count thickness, it can be used for shirts, blouses, dresses, and more.
"Kasuri" refers to a traditional Japanese weaving technique and the textile made using it.
Kasuri is characterized by its distinctive blurred pattern, created by dyeing the yarn in parts in advance before weaving.
Manganese kasuri is a type of traditional Japanese kasuri, and is especially known as one of the dyeing techniques used in Kurume kasuri.
