Materials and Structure

There are woven elastic, knitted elastic, and braided elastic structures. It is used for sleeve openings and waists of blouses and dresses, waistbands of skirts, and sleeve openings and hems of children's clothing. When multiple rows are sewn in parallel, it can create a shirred finish with continuous fine gathers.

For areas close to the skin, in addition to stretch strength, check thickness, edge stiffness, and surface smoothness. On thin fabrics, puckering caused by elastic contraction and the visibility of stitches also affect the finished look.

Selection and Handling Precautions

Select it according to the dimensions of the area of use, the required contraction amount, and the fabric thickness and stretch. Even elastic with strong stretch can sag during wear if its recovery force is weak. Conversely, if the recovery force is too strong, it can cause a tight feeling and excessive sewing contraction, so caution is needed.

Due to the effects of heat, ultraviolet light, sweat, detergents, and similar factors, the performance of elastic materials may gradually change over time. Make sure not to apply the iron directly for a long time, and confirm that the washing and drying conditions match the product's care tag. Before mass production, conduct washing and wearing tests with the fabric combination.

Differences from Similar Terms
