IFI Material Seminar “Basic Knowledge of Apparel Materials”

Yesterday, I participated in IFI's one-day intensive seminar "Basic Knowledge of Apparel Materials."

Throughout the day, we learned a wide range of things from raw materials to processing.

When I was a student, I had a class called material theory, and I studied about materials.

When I listened to it unconsciously when I was a student, I thought differently when I heard it now.

I had never had the experience of touching raw materials before they were made into thread or textile and seeing them in terms of fibers, so I think it was a very valuable experience! I think.

The knowledge that was vague until now now makes sense! That's why it's so! I understood.

For example, when it comes to worsted wool and woolen wool, I had the impression that worsted wool is smooth and woolen wool is stiff.

Worsted thread is made from long fibers, so it is smooth, while woolen thread is made from short fibers, so it is fluffy and full.

I learned that each has its own strengths, which are reflected in the characteristics of the textile .

I'm really glad I went because I was able to learn about the characteristics of textile from the raw materials and thread stages.

The lecturer, Mr. Nakaguchi, talked about his experiences and trivia about textile, and it was very interesting.

I want to do my best to put what I learned this time to use.
