From 5/18 (Mon) to 29 (Fri), I visited COSMO TEXTILE Co., Ltd.’s spring/summer 2026 exhibition held at its Tokyo branch in Gotanda.
This time, there were many new products as well, so I’ll give you a detailed report on the exhibition atmosphere and the products!
COSMO TEXTILE was founded in 1936 and is a fabric wholesale company specializing in textiles, engaged in planning, manufacturing, and sales, with its headquarters in Osaka and a branch in Tokyo.
It is divided into Sales Dept. 2 and Sales Dept. 3, and the types of fabrics they handle are quite different.
What they have in common is that both mainly handle natural fibers such as cotton.
Sales Dept. 2 sells originally planned plain, printed, and yarn-dyed fabrics for handicrafts to retail stores and chain stores.
(You’ll definitely come across COSMO TEXTILE’s fabrics if you visit a craft store, such as simple fabrics for patchwork and cute fabrics used for nursery and school entrance items.)
Sales Dept. 3 handles apparel fabrics, mainly for men’s wear, and offers a wide range of stocked materials from natural fibers to functional materials.
First, when you enter the entrance, a torso dressed in office-casual style welcomes you.
My impression of COSMO TEXTILE was that it was a brand strong in military-inspired men’s fabrics, so I realized they also cover women’s fabrics well.
(*They also have solid track records of use with women’s brands.)
Fabric samples and product samples were lined up all over the hanger racks, letting us fully feel the texture and atmosphere of the fabrics.
We were introduced to new products right away, so I’d like to go through them in detail.
This fabric was used for the pants on the torso on the left.
It is 100% cotton, but it has been given a silicone impregnation treatment (where silicone is impregnated or coated into each individual fiber of the fabric), so it has just the right amount of firmness and body.
It has a slightly sleek texture, and when I touched it, I could feel the high-quality hand feel and overall quality.
It is wrinkle-resistant and water-repellent, making it perfect for pants and more, for both men and women.
“High-density poplin (bafu)” originally refers to a very durable plain weave fabric woven at extremely high density and placed under the saddle during horseback riding, and this one has been given a Nidom finish.
I hadn’t heard much about Nidom finish, but it seems to be a process that has been passed down in Japan, and there are quite a limited number of factories that can do it.
Nidom processing is created by kneading and beating the fabric in water, then using enzymes to control the fibrillation that occurs during this process.
This treatment gives it a unique firmness and a soft, airy feel, and since this fabric was peach-finished before the Nidom process, it has a slightly brushed, powdery feel and smoothness.
At first, when I touched it, I thought it might be nylon, but it was actually 100% cotton fabric.
The secret is that heat is applied strongly from the front of the fabric, giving it a flat and smooth texture. It is also water-repellent thanks to the silicone impregnation treatment.
Since it is lightweight, I thought it would be a great match for athleisure outerwear and bottoms.
This typewriter cloth was also 100% cotton, yet it had just the right amount of body.
The typewriter cloth itself is tightly woven, but by applying the modern finish, it gained roll and firmness, giving it a clean, refined appearance.
It also has the advantage of being wrinkle-resistant, and with its crisp, dry touch, it is perfect for shirts and blouses for spring and summer!
Because it is high-twist, this is a high-density heavy-ounce moleskin with a crisp feel.
It has good 4-way stretch, but it is not overly sporty, so I highly recommend it for city-oriented items.
It has the look of a fabric that has been washed over and over, with a wash-finish feel and color fading, giving it a very atmospheric look.
I highly recommend it for items where you want a relaxed, lived-in feel.
By sun-drying it without using a dryer, it gives off a natural texture.
This fabric was made by analyzing a German military jacket, and it uses white yarn on the inside.
At first glance, it has a denim-like look and also a substantial fabric volume.
It is a fabric that lets you enjoy a faded look through bio-wash processing and more.
(*The fabric has not been washed, so please be sure to use it after product washing.)

COSMO TEXTILE has many fabrics with a calm, mature feel, but recently it seems to have especially many fabrics with character through post-processing and yarn processing.
They also had many products in their specialty military-style fabrics.
