For attachment, mount the compatible setting tool on a hand press or press machine, then set the parts in the prescribed order for each part. If the shape or pressure of the setting tool does not match, it can lead to deformation, scratches, insufficient holding power, or tearing of the textile, so trial setting is performed before mass production.

• Check the thickness of the attachment area, including the textile thickness, interlining, and overlapping seam allowance.

Jumper hooks are used on jumpers, blousons, coats, uniforms, workwear, and bags. For front openings and pocket openings that are subject to pulling loads, select specifications based on the garment application, frequency of opening and closing, and textile strength.

If attached directly to thin or highly stretchable textiles, the set part may pull out or the textile may tear. If necessary, reinforce the attachment area with interlining, pressing cloth, or reinforcement tape, and also check the load placed on the textile by a hook that is too stiff.

Metal products may rust or discolor due to sweat, washing, moisture, chemicals, storage conditions, and similar factors. Check the plating type and corrosion resistance, and for products that come into contact with skin, consider whether nickel-free specifications are required according to the sales region and quality standards.

• For children's clothing and products with safety standards, confirm requirements related to tensile strength and part detachment.
• If there is a needle detection process, confirm in advance whether it is needle detector compatible and how it will be handled.
• If product washing, dyeing, water-repellent finishing, or similar processing is performed, evaluate the appearance and opening/closing performance after processing.

Differences from Similar Terms

Press fastener is the general term for snap-style fasteners attached by setting. Jumper hook is one type of press fastener and does not refer to all press fasteners. In specifications, rather than writing only "jumper hook," specifying the size, color, front and back part configuration, and attachment position helps reduce misunderstandings.

Spring hook is a type of press fastener that fastens with a spring structure on the socket side. A cap snap button is a punch-type button mainly used for denim products and similar items, and its opening/closing mechanism and applications differ. Sewn-on snaps are attached with thread, so they are distinguished from jumper hooks that are set by press.
