Today, I’d like to introduce Takamoto Shoji, which handles its own original ribbon brand, United Ribbons.
Founded in Kyoto in 1947, this long-established textile trading company mainly handles ribbons and tapes, providing high-quality products for retailers and apparel makers.
Focusing on the manufacturing, processing, wholesale, and import/export of narrow fabrics such as ribbons and tapes, the company also handles a wide range of businesses, including fancy yarn, synthetic feather, mask cords, OEM for knits and miscellaneous goods, and even e-commerce.
With its headquarters in Kyoto and domestic bases in Tokyo and Osaka, as well as sales and production bases in China (including Shanghai) and the United States (California and New York), the company has a global presence.
Its best-known brand is United Ribbons, and many of you may have held the yellow-and-black ribbon reels in your hands before.
Ribbons are also used in event and spatial design, and recently at the flower art installation “Moment of Bloom” celebrating the first anniversary of Tokyo Midtown Yaesu’s opening, many of Takamoto Shoji’s ribbons were adopted as decorative materials.
The use of approximately 3000m of ribbon created a festive atmosphere in the space, demonstrating the richness of its expressive potential.
Not only for apparel materials, Takamoto Shoji’s ribbons have also been used for spatial presentations and have likely been seen by many people.
