This time, we’d like to introduce “Takamoto Shōji,” which carries its original ribbon brand “UNITED RIBBONS.”
Founded in Kyoto in 1947, this long-established specialty textile trading company mainly handles ribbons and tapes, providing high-quality products for retail stores and apparel brands.
Centered on the manufacturing, processing, wholesale, import, and export of narrow-width fabrics such as ribbons and tapes, the company also works across a wide range of fields, including fancy yarns, synthetic feathers, mask cords, OEM for knitwear and miscellaneous goods, and even e-commerce.
Its headquarters are in Kyoto, and in addition to domestic bases in Tokyo and Osaka, it also has sales and production bases in China (including Shanghai) and the United States (California and New York), operating on a global scale.
It is best known for “UNITED RIBBONS,” and many of you may have held a reel of yellow and black ribbon before.
Ribbons are also used in event and spatial design, and recently Takamoto Shoji’s ribbons were widely used as decorative materials for the flower art installation “Moment of Bloom” held to celebrate the first anniversary of the opening of Tokyo Midtown Yaesu.
Using approximately 3,000 m of ribbon to create a festive atmosphere in the space demonstrates just how expressive these ribbons can be.
Not only for apparel materials, Takamoto Shoji’s ribbons were also used in spatial presentations, and were surely seen by many people.
This ribbon features a moiré finish on back satin (a visually created woodgrain-like striped pattern).
