For the first time in Masuda's history, nonwoven fabric has been added to our standard materials!
*What is nonwoven fabric?
As the name suggests, it is a fabric made without weaving.
Unlike woven and knitted fabrics, there is no need for the processes of thread → weaving/knitting → dyeing, and it has the advantage of being able to be produced at a lower cost than woven and knitted fabrics.
The drawback was that the roll surface and production lot size were very large, which limited the applications in which it could be used.
So, by stocking this material, Masuda is able to produce incredibly small lots for a nonwoven fabric material!
It is now available in 100m rolls (small rolls are 16m)!
<SP1070E> is a polypropylene (PP) spun nonwoven fabric (*1).
PP has characteristics that nylon and polyester do not have.
<Characteristics of Polypropylene (PP)>
It has the lightest specific gravity of all fibers and floats on water (specific gravity: 0.91). It is completely hydrophobic and resistant to dryness and humidity.
It has low thermal conductivity and therefore has excellent heat retention.
It has excellent heat processability and can be laminated or heat-sealed. (PP's softening point is approximately 130°C, and its melting point is approximately 160°C.) For reference, polyester 's softening point is approximately 240°C, and its melting point is approximately 260°C.
It can be used for a wide range of purposes, including clothing materials (bedding, furniture, interior materials), industrial materials (vehicle interior materials, core materials, filters), general packaging materials, and agricultural materials.
Due to its low price, it is also suitable for disposable
