The most distinctive feature of this tie bar is the three onyx stones at an angle at the tip. It looks very simple at first glance, but it uses very advanced technology. Kofu City in Yamanashi Prefecture has been famous for jewelry processing (polishing, cutting, grinding) since the Edo period. This tie bar is handmade by artisans who specialize in jewelry processing in Kofu. Three very thin diagonal grooves are dug and the onyx is precisely cut to fit perfectly into the grooves and then set in. This process requires highly advanced skills and is truly the work of a craftsman who works with delicate jewelry.
