It is made from a luxurious silk fabric used for the lapels of formal men’s wear such as tailcoats and tuxedos.

The silk facing fabric used here is woven in a small textile workshop in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture, one of Japan’s leading silk fabric production areas. Fujiyoshida is a historic production region that dates back to the Heian period. This area, where spring water from Mount Fuji flows, has the clean water that is essential for high-quality dyeing.
In the weaving process, Yamamoto’s blended silk facing fabric uses as many as 13,000 warp threads in a width of just 47 cm, and for the weft, it uses a double-twisted 120-denier yarn, resulting in an astonishingly thick 240-denier thread.
By weaving slowly on a shuttle loom, the fabric retains air, creating a three-dimensional texture, and artisans constantly inspect it for any defects. Each stage—dyeing, spinning, warp preparation, and weaving—is carried out by skilled craftsmen under strict quality control to create the best possible product for customers.
